John Noble (b. 1948) is an Australian born film and television actor and a theatre director of more than 80 plays. He is internationally best known for his performance as Denethor in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King film adaption. On Fringe, he plays the character Walter Bishop, and Bishop's alternate universe counterpart, "Walternate".

Other works include Russian Consul Anatoly Markov in the sixth season of the television series 24.
